Jerry Sherk MA, is President and founder of Mentor Management Systems, of Encinitas,
California. Jerry has a masters degree in counseling psychology, and he brings a wealth of
background and experience gained from providing technical assistance and training to both
business and youth-based mentoring programs. Over the past eight years, Jerry has given workshops for hundreds of program managers, mentors and mentees, while helping approximately 150 mentoring programs to develop their operating systems. This experience has enabled Jerry to constantly improve methods for helping mentoring agencies come to scale more quickly and efficiently. Jerry has also authored or co-authored a number of workbooks on mentoring including: · Creating and Sustaining a Winning Match · Best Practices for Mentoring Programs · Preparing Mentees for the Match · The Mentors' Guide to Workplace Mentoring · Risk Management for Mentoring Programs Recently, Jerry was the lead consultant in the State of Californias effort to revise the Quality Assurance Standard approval process for youth mentoring programs. Last year, Jerry assisted Intel Computer Clubhouses in developing mentoring curriculum for their 90 Clubhouses worldwide. Currently, Jerry is facilitating group mentoring for ex-felony offenders at the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles. In addition, Jerry is the Past Executive Director of the Mentoring Coalition of San Diego County, as well as Past President of the NFL Retired Players Association, San Diego. From 1970-1981, Jerry was an All Pro defensive lineman for the Cleveland Browns, and he was recently on the ballot for the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jerry lives in Encinitas, California with his wife, two teenage children, and their Dachshund, Charlie. Judy Strother Taylor, Executive Vice President of MMS, has over 30 years of experience in adult and youth mentoring, human development, delinquency prevention and juvenile justice. Judy has worked with the White House Special Action Office for Drug Abuse Prevention and she has also directed national initiatives for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the Bureau of Prisons and the Agency for International Development. In addition, Ms. Taylor served as Executive Vice President of the National Office for Social Responsibility, and was senior trainer for the Southwest Regional Office of Communities In Schools. Over the past decade, Judy has provided technical assistance to over 100 adult and youth mentoring programs, and her passion is training and curriculum development. Recently, Judy authored a workbook entitled Training New Mentees for the U.S. Department of Justice and it is being distributed by the National Mentoring Center. Ms. Strother also created the Two By Two Mentoring Model, which is now utilized by numerous youth mentoring programs nationally. In addition to working with Mentor Management Systems, Judy provides technical assistance through the National JUMP Initiative, and through the Center for Applied Research Solutions (CARS) of Folsom, California. Judy is also Cassandras mentor. Juan Granados is an expert in many fields including mentoring, conflict resolution and mediation, alcohol and other drug prevention, and gang involvement awareness. A Yaqui / Mexicano, Juan is also versed vital cultural and diversity issues. In his role as Technical Advisor for Evaluation, Management & Training, Inc. (EMT), Juan assists individual mentoring programs, and he leads workshops which provide education for up to 40 youth mentoring programs at a time. For the Increase the Peace Collaboration of Los Angeles, Juan conducts student and parent workshops on conflict resolution and mediation, drug and alcohol education, gang involvement awareness, and accessing community resources. Receiving a B.A. degree from Pacific Oaks University, Juan is currently a national trainer for the Harvard School of Public Health and Family Services of America, and he is also certified in Conflict Resolution - Mediation, and as an Alcohol and Other Drugs Specialist. Juan has many professional affiliations including: National Trainer in School Based Prevention Programs for Family Services of America, National Trainer for Violence Prevention, past Chair of San Fernando Valley Domestic Violence Coalition.
